What is Bone & Joint Action Week?
Bone & Joint Action Week is a global initiative held every October to raise awareness of musculoskeletal health and promote collaboration across medical disciplines. It highlights a range of bone and joint conditions that affect mobility and quality of life, advocating for prevention, early diagnosis, and evidence-based care.
The Week features five themed days, each focusing on a key aspect of musculoskeletal health:
World Arthritis Day – 12 October
World Spine Day – 16 October
World Trauma Day – 17 October
World Paediatric Bone & Joint Day – 19 October
World Osteoporosis Day – 20 October
What Matters to People in Hong Kong?
In Hong Kong, musculoskeletal disorders are a growing health concern, particularly as the population ages and more people lead active lives. Conditions such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, spinal problems, and injuries are becoming increasingly common, affecting independence, productivity, and overall wellbeing. Prevention, early detection, and access to expert orthopaedic care are vital to addressing these challenges.
Our Commitment to Collaboration
The Hong Kong Musculoskeletal Health Foundation (HKMSHF) works closely with orthopaedic associations, academic institutions, and medical experts to deliver quality public health education.
During Bone & Joint Action Week, HKMSHF co-organises talks, seminars, and multimedia campaigns to help the public understand how to care for their bones and joints. These initiatives promote healthier lifestyles and connect people with trusted medical expertise.
Through collaboration across the musculoskeletal field, HKMSHF aims to build a more informed, health-conscious community equipped to prevent and manage orthopaedic conditions.
