On 14 June, the Hong Kong Musculoskeletal Health Foundation held its first International Scoliosis Awareness Month event at Kwong Wah Hospital, welcoming over 80 participants.
As the first large-scale scoliosis awareness event in a public hospital, it featured orthopaedic surgeons, physiotherapists, and orthotists who explained the causes of scoliosis, when to seek diagnosis, and current treatment approaches—from Schroth therapy and braces to surgical advances.
Speakers from the Hong Kong Scoliosis Awareness Group and patients shared personal experiences, highlighting both the medical journey and the importance of mental well-being. An exhibition zone displayed orthotic devices and screening tools, giving attendees the chance to meet the team and learn directly.
